The Grim
The Grim - formally a Spanish trade galleon that the pirate captain Renato Vargas managed to capture and give to his second in command - has been commissioned as a privateering vessel headed by Captain Arthur Kirkland. The ship, after the repairs needed because of it’s capture, has been made longer and thinner for greater speed in the water and reduced from a four mast, to a three. But the upgrades haven’t reduced the comfort of the ship - which had been made for the previous owners - with a large cabin for the captain, smaller cabins for the main crew, and bunks (with feather mattresses) instead of hammocks for the rest of the crew. A large galley down below and a larger hold as well as a barred off room for prisoners (or mutineers, if such a person dares to step on his ship).
Despite the comforts that have been built in, the Grim has been made for fighting - 28 cannons line the lower deck, all fully ready for battle at any moment and thoroughly checked to make sure they’re in peak working condition. Down in the hold is a weapons locker filled with smaller guns to larger rifles as well as a variety of swords for all different sizes of crew - but Captain Kirkland does keep a roster of who has what out, so if you try to steal one, you’ll find yourself punished!
Now, to all the crew, we are a Privateering vessel - we do plunder and pillage with the best of them, but if the Queen demands we leave on a mission, be it on land or sea, we will fulfill our duty... grudgingly... The captain’s favorite ships to go after are French and Spanish (for no reason whatsoever, they just bother the hell out of him... really...)
As part of his crew, you’ll be expected to be able to do your tasks quickly and efficiently, to have some enjoyment in taking down ships and attacking ports, as well as have a healthy patience with your captain as he can be something of a raging drunk when in the mood. Though, usually when he’s drunk, he does offer to let the crew drink with him, so things can get a bit wild. Also, if you break the rules badly enough to piss off your captain, the brig down below is fully ready to accept occupants for short or long durations!
