Hands shoved deep into his pockets, Eduard did his best to ignore the men and women calling out to him. He’d come here with some of his coworkers, who’d somehow found out his weakness for alcohol, but when they wouldn’t let up and trying to get him drunk he’d left the bar.
Of course, because they’d been on the edge of the island he hadn’t realized what area they’d gone to. Now though, as he wandered the red light district, he couldn’t help but think himself a fool. Of course if their entire intent had been to get him drunk they’d likely wanted to get him into an embarrassing situation.
It wasn’t malicious, but the kind of mischief his coworkers liked generally left him the butt of the joke.
A more persistent boy, this time dressed up in a gaudy geisha costume, grabbed his wrist and he smiled a little awkwardly at him. “Hey Mister, I can show you a real good time~!” The painted face smiled coyly up at him and he felt something around his heart constrict in sympathy.
There was no way this boy, looking hardly over fourteen, could want to be in this line of work. “I’m sorry but…” The boy moved closer, pressing himself along Eduard’s side and making him stiffen at the invasion of his personal space.
“I’ll bet you’ve never had something as sweet as me. You won’t regret it~” He fluttered his eyelashes, painted lips parting in invitation.
Eduard swallowed and tried to pull his arm free. “No, honestly, I’m terribly sorry but I’m not interested. I just need to find a place to stay for the night, so if you’ll excuse me..” He finally slipped his arm free and took a step back, out of easy grabbing range.
The boy pouted, but turned back to the establishment he’d come from with a huff. Eduard could see that several other boys, none of them Asian, were all dressed up as Geisha and lounging around in provocative poses. He swallowed again and continued down the street, now more wary of grasping hands and calling voices.
