Lysty Vid Starshoï Sestry
(translated from Ukrainian)
Dear Sestrychka,
Today was an exciting day! Certainly one worth writing about. I met a young man in South America--an Australian named James. Just James. He apparently has no family other than his crew, and has not since he was young. Can you imagine, sestra? He is your age, or somewhere close about, in yet has seen so much of the world already. It is humbling to think that I, eight years your senior, have only started my journey a month and a half ago.
The way in which we met, I admit, was not percisely ideal: James was following his Kapitan, and somehow in the process of defending him, was shot in the side. I was out grocery shopping when I found him in the alley, and even though he had a pistol out and drawn, there was something calling me within those frightened green eyes...
I bound the wound and helped him back onto his ship, the Grim (an ominous name with a matching standard--a monstrous black dog with red eyes!) and he has promised me a dinner when next we meet. I do not know if it is within God's will that James and I should meet again, sestra, in yet, I cannot but hope so in spite of myself. He is young, in yet, there is something in his presence that feels more than his age. I almost feel as though I have seen those eyes before, though I cannot imagine how or where...
Ah! It is not appropriate for a woman my age to prattle on so! Forgive me.
Your dearest starsha sestra,
Katyusha[/i]
